Disappointed' Mamelodi Sundowns ex-defender wishes for Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates in Nedbank Cup quarter-final after poor mentality against Mpheni Defenders - 'In Mzansi we have problem with attitudes' | Goal.com South

Dan Semake, a former defender for Sundowns, was not pleased with the performance last weekend.

He has now clarified the benefits of his squad drawing any of the Soweto giants and the significance of maintaining a positive attitude.

SEMAKE’S COMMENTS
“Sundowns slowed down their playing tempo yesterday. They appeared overly at ease. There is no easy game for Sundowns, in my opinion,” he stated, as cited by SNL24. “They took things too casually.”

“The skill level of their opponents is irrelevant. They still have depth as a team, but regardless of who is taking a player’s place, it all comes down to the players’ mindset and attitude.

“We have an issue in South Africa where players’ attitudes shift after they are repeatedly left off the team. In Europe, people take their professions seriously, thus there are no such problems.

“I wish we draw clubs like Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the quarterfinals. Our players’ mentality automatically shifts when facing these teams.

WHAT NEXT?
Pirates want to successfully defend their title, while Kaizer Chiefs are anxious to end their ten-year trophy drought.

After a draw on Monday, February 17, it will be intriguing to see who Masandawana ends up with.

In addition, Masandawana has already defeated the Bucs once this season and the Glamour Boys twice in all competitions.
